Greg Burns, Tate Township Trustee addressed the July meeting attendees, “Our dilemma for keeping the township deputy can only be solved by placing a levy on the ballot in November so that the voters can decide.”
The amounts are not yet certified so the numbers are not exact but 0.6 mils would generate enough to pay for the deputy’s contract and would cost the taxpayers a little over $19 each year for a $100,000 home. Once the numbers are certified and it gets closer to November, residents can go to the auditor’s website and check to see the exact cost for their address.
The Clermont County Engineer’s office reports a bridge replacement on Jones Florer Rd in Tate Township where a closure will be necessary until the work is finished. Expected dates of closure are 7/9/2018 – 8/3/2018. The detour is expected to be about 5.5 miles and signs will be posted. Illegal dumping (and it is illegal!) at recycling drop-offs around Clermont County continues to be an issue. It has forced the recent closing of two recycling drop-offs at Shor Park and Bethel Save-A-Lot. A few years ago, the county had 42 sites for recycling. Now it is down to 26.Many residents have curbside recycling in their neighborhoods. These additional drop-offs are offered for those who don’t have curbside recycling, or don’t want to pay the service fee often charged by companies that collect trash in Clermont County. But the abuse at these drop-off sites, where people routinely dump furniture, carpet, large plastic items, construction waste, etc., will inevitably end up in more of them closing.Rumpke, which services the recycling drop-offs, has this list of what you can and cannot recycle.
There was a question on NextDoor as to when the curbside recycle pick up is scheduled. In Tate Township, Rumpke picked up the recycle on Friday, June 15th and it is scheduled for every 2 weeks on Fridays so the next one is Friday , June 29th, then every 2 weeks -July 13, July 27, August 10, August 24., and so on. Monroe Township pick-up is the alternate Friday.
To remind yourself: If you have a smart phone, go to your calendar app and you can add Rumpke Recycle as an all day event on 7/13/18 and then, under options, make it a recurrence every 2 weeks.
Want to add this service or ask a question? Call Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171.
Be aware that Duke Energy’s tree trimming crews will continue to perform the required tree trimming and removal work within the Tate Township specifically along the high voltage transmission lines. Residents may see their specialists and their equipment along the circuit throughout the next few months. Please watch out for them.
The recycle bins up in Bethel at the Save-A-Lot will be discontinued after June 15th, 2018. Rumpke is redirecting them to the East Fork Park Offices at 3294 Elklick Rd. Please do not leave ANY items at all after the dumpsters have been removed from the Save-A-Lot parking lot. You now have 2 options to dispose of recycled items. You can drop off recycled items at the East Fork Park Offices at 3294 Elklick Rd. OR Rumpke offers FREE curbside recycling bins or carts to Tate Township customers. Just contact them to get curbside recycling started. You can call Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171 or email them at ClermontCounty@rumpke.com.
Future generations thank you for recycling today!
