ALB Ohio Update February 2022

There are four states with active Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) eradication programs: South Carolina, Ohio, Massachusetts, and New York.

Rural Energy Program Helps Farmers, Small Businesses

Posted by Clermont County, the Rural Energy for America Program is available to “assist rural, small, for profit businesses, and agricultural producers install renewable energy systems or make energy efficiency improvements to their property.”

Grants can range from $1,500 to $500,000.  Awarded grants can cover up to 25% of the eligible project expenses.

Farmers have used this program to replace grain dryers, replace livestock lighting and fans, and install solar PV arrays.

Examples of past projects for small businesses are replacing lighting with high efficiency LED lighting, improvements to HVAC systems, and installation of renewable energy systems.

LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

The Bethel-Tate Fire Department, Clermont County, Ohio (hereinafter referred to as “Agency or Agency’s”) requesting sealed bid proposals for the purchase of various types and sizes of NFPA 1936 current edition compliant Extrication Equipment and Accessories.

Bids will be received until 3:00 P.M. EST on December 23, 2021 at the

Bethel-Tate Fire Department

149 N. East St.

Bethel, Ohio 45106

All bid packages will be opened and reviewed for accuracy and compliance at that time. Once completed, the Fire Chief or his designee will make a formal recommendation to the Agency’s Board of Trustees, Tate Township Trustees, followed by notification to the successful bidder.

The proposals shall be made on the forms provided, or as indicated in the Invitation to Bid.

*All proposals shall be sent via U.S. Postal Service, Federal Express, DHL, or UPS.

*No proposal will be accepted via walk-in or hand to hand delivery.

The Bethel-Tate Fire Department reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals; to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received and to award the contract to the lowest and/or best bidder whose proposal is deemed most favorable to the Bethel-Tate Fire Department.

Ohio Department of Agriculture just issued a new video featuring tree climbing experts in search for ALB. Take a look at the job from their perspective, way up high, and how to spot the beetle!

Take a look at APHIS’ Facebook page, which recently launched to compliment the agency’s social media presence on Twitter and LinkedIn, offering new ways to share information and engage with stakeholders.

VOTE – Election 2021

Election day for 2021 is Tuesday, November 2nd. For those in Tate Township, the precincts either vote at the Bethel-Tate Middle School using the back parking lot entrance near the tennis courts or at the Bethel Community Building, 129 N. Union St.  For you exact voting location in Clermont County, Find Your Poll Location .You can also look at a copy of your precinct’s ballot on the Clermont County Election page.

Local battles that are on the ballot in Tate Township are three (3) Bethel School Board Member openings.  The three incumbents are Tiffiany Riddle, William Shula, and David R. Brannock.  The two additional candidates are Jamie Jeffers and Melanie Jasontek Rubenstein.

There are two (2) Tate Township Trustee seats open with one (1) incumbent, Gary Reed. Two candidates are Ron Shouse and John Wilson. One additional candidate that is eligible for the write-in box is Greg Schuler. Greg Burns is not seeking re-election.

Polls are open this Tuesday, 11/2/21 from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM.  Be sure to bring your ID.  Any questions about voting should be directed to your county election headquarters.

Village of Bethel Halloween Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat in the Village of Bethel is set for Saturday, 10/30/21, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Parade up and down the sidewalks of Bethel in your scariest costumes this Saturday.  Don’t forget the magic words…Trick of Treat!

Legal Notice – Special Tate Township Meeting

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a special meeting of the Tate Township Trustees will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 8:00 am.  Meeting is at the Bethel-Tate Fire Department   149 North East St. Bethel, Ohio. The topic is concerning the 2022 Clermont County Port Authority State Capital Bill Community Project.

World Walker Steve Newman’s 35th Anniversary Planned

A 35th anniversary event is in the planning stages by the Bethel Historical Society to happen on April 1st, 2022.

Stay tuned – the Bethel Historical Society will be commemorating the 35th anniversary of World Walker, Steve Newman’s return into Bethel after his 4-year walk around the world.

The plan is to recreate the last part of his journey from Bantam to Bethel. Steve left Bethel on April 1st, 1983 and returned on April 1st, 1987.  Did you know that a trail in East Fork State Park is named after the World Walker?
