Rural Energy Program Helps Farmers, Small Businesses

Posted by Clermont County, the Rural Energy for America Program is available to “assist rural, small, for profit businesses, and agricultural producers install renewable energy systems or make energy efficiency improvements to their property.”

Grants can range from $1,500 to $500,000.  Awarded grants can cover up to 25% of the eligible project expenses.

Farmers have used this program to replace grain dryers, replace livestock lighting and fans, and install solar PV arrays.

Examples of past projects for small businesses are replacing lighting with high efficiency LED lighting, improvements to HVAC systems, and installation of renewable energy systems.
